Many professions are overcome with AI, but artificial intelligence has not only cons but also pros. Here they are.
Artificial intelligence affects our lives every day, from the classic robots in companies to the voice assistants accompanying us on our smartphones and in cars.
The application of AI in our world is boundless and ever-changing, and our concept of artificial intelligence is likely to become obsolete within 10 years.
But what matters, for now, is to understand the impact of technology on humans. Beyond the benefits and advances AI brings to scientific research; there are still doubts about the future.
Beyond the ethical debates between computer scientists, philosophers, and sociologists, the business world is also thinking about the future. However, there are already many practical applications.
Will robots be able to replace humans at work? Much of the work is already happening; just think of realities like the Japanese ones, in which robotic entities have replaced the clerks of some shops.
In other areas, however, such as journalism, large companies like Microsoft are experimenting with artificial intelligence, and in the future, we may have press releases written by digital entities.
On the other hand, we think that AI, although it is evolving quickly, still has some flaws that, for the moment, make human input still indispensable.
Let’s now see the pros and cons, in our opinion, of Artificial Intelligence.
PROs
Simplification of tasks
Artificial intelligence is making our life easier and easier. Just think about how easy it is to search for information without even typing the question on the keyboard.
It is sufficient to ask a question to the virtual assistant (Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri are the most famous), and here the information appears before our eyes; but not only that: the text on the screen is also read aloud to us.
For more niche jobs, such as online advertising, AI is applied to help advertisers improve advertising campaigns. Or it is becoming faster and faster for graphic designers to perform actions on different software thanks to the advanced algorithms implemented by the manufacturers.
Artificial intelligence makes our life easier.
New research opportunities
Scientific research is completely changing its approach thanks to AI, in particular thanks to a specific branch: machine learning.
Machine learning is a branch of artificial intelligence in which an algorithm learns and corrects itself based on its information.
An example is the cataloging of proteins that took place thanks to Google. The software was able to independently shape and predict naturally occurring proteins, supervised by researchers.
Or we can quote you the new algorithm that recognizes and catalogs galaxies in the universe, helping astrologers worldwide understand the space around us better.
AI is only in its infancy and is already making great strides, even in scientific research.
CONs
But all that glitters is not gold. While we have undeniable benefits, on the other, there are still issues to reflect on.
The future of work is uncertain.
I want to mention some work that today the employee no longer exists:
- who lit the street lamps at night;
- who placed the pins in bowling alleys;
- at the motorway exit.
No longer are people doing these jobs, but the list could be 10 times longer.
Machines already replace man, but when Artificial Intelligence makes them more precise and autonomous, many more jobs will disappear.
And for the moment, there are no transition plans, and given the speed with which AI evolves, there could be big problems in the next 20 years.
Those who today are cashiers, bartenders, mechanics, and other highly popular professions could find themselves out of a job within a few decades.
It is vital to step in and update your staff, as they may one day be replaced by robots doing the same job half the time and at a much lower cost.
Imperfections Of Algorithms
If, on the one hand, we have super-advanced algorithms that catalog the universe, it is undeniable to find software that still has difficulty in offering an impeccable service.
Speech recognition, for example, may still have some language decoding flaws, so speech search would fail.
Or some recognition software still has trouble identifying the image object.
In short, there are imperfect algorithms, and we must take note of them; this happens because artificial intelligence must be updated and trained continuously over time, and the world changes at absurd speeds.
We Believe In The Information Revolution
Industry 4.0 will be based on two specific technologies: Artificial Intelligence and blockchain.
We cannot predict what will happen in the next few years, but the projections tell us that what we know today is not even access to what we will see in the next 20 years.
These words can be scary, but it is normal; we are always afraid of what we do not know. But they also make us curious, which drives us forward with confidence.
We are a reality projected to the future, and we have already developed blockchain-based applications. And our work is simplified by AI.
But this does not stop us: every day, we study IT innovation and try to welcome it to exploit it for the benefit of our customers. Our services are at your disposal.
